A Pole Dancers Story

Hi my name is Leeann.  I am a working mum with two kids, and am wife to a fab husband.

You could say my entrance into the world of pole dancing began with a bang! (And an OUCH!).
I was browsing through my catalogue one day and saw a dancing pole and thought that would be a good hobby and a bit of fun, so I ordered it without hesitation and when my new pole arrived I was like a little kid!  A bit too eager maybe on reflection!
Needless to say I did not know what to expect when I put it up, so there I was dancing around it and though it would look really cool if I jumped up on it and slid down (big mistake).  As I jumped, the pole started to slip across the ceiling, smashing my light shade and then I landed on top of it!
I was that exited about the pole I didn't know that it was not designed to be jumped on and just to be danced around which is ok if that's all you want, but I wanted more.

So the following day I did an Internet search and was amazed how popular pole dancing was! I had no idea! I always knew there were pole dancing clubs, but didn't know how much you could learn and how much strength it would take, and how fit you become doing it, so off I set looking for a professional pole and  bought one.
I remember the first time I tried it.  I was truly hooked and I remember how hard the most basic spin was and the bruises I had!  But as time went on I grew more confident and my ability and strength grew too.

After I had my son I suffered with post natal depression, and I also then lost my mum very suddenly.  I think pole dancing has help pull me out of that, and if my mum was still here she would probably love the idea and maybe would have had a swing herself!  It gives me the confidence to say I can do this, and the more I do it the better I feel.
I LOVE everything about pole dance.  I love the way pole dancing can be displayed from fitness to exotic, and how even the most basic routine when performed smoothly can look awesome.
I would like to say that there are some truly awesome pole dancers out there who have inspired me, I love to watch performances that show the skill strength and flexibility that pole dancing involves, and it gives me so much to aspire to.
Where I see my future in pole dancing, I would love to enter a competition and for my teaching skills to grow maybe open a studio.
I genuinely think that pole dance can be for everyone, because if I can do it, then ANYONE can!
