Review of pole school Pole Palais, Nottingham

Review of a pole school featured in Pole2Pole Magazine last year.

Established Since:

January 2011

Venue(s):

9 Church St, New Basford, Nottingham, NG5 4AR

Poles used:

11 Poles

Classes Offered:

Group classes - Monday 6-8; Thursday 7-9; Saturday 12-2. Privates - daytime and evening every day. We have an over 40’s class starting and a burlesque group on Saturday afternoons.

Levels Offered (Pro, Beginner etc):

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced.

Class Structure:

Abilities group together to learn moves of the week and go over other moves taught form the beginning lesson. We follow the guidelines and also encourage students to inspire each other.
Class Venues and Their Facilities: All classes are taught in our spacious, beautifully arty studio in New Basford.

Quick Background of the Instructors:

I have an MA in fine art and was planning on teaching that until I turned 41, when I began to learn pole. Kirsty has a degree in forensic science, Fran has a degree in nursing and is now a nurse, Lisa is a youth worker and works for the Open University and Eve works for the offices of Boots the chemist.

Your School’s Ethos or Slogans:

We believe that students need to experience other schools so they can learn new things from different instructors. We encourage our students to go to pole shows classes and events in and around the country, helped by the NPA (Nottingham Pole Association) which tells all of its members a bit of what is going on out in the big pole world and the many positive things that are happening for them.

Any Other Points of Interest:

Like any other school we just want to spread the word that pole dance fitness has changed so many students' lives for the better! They are more confident, happy and independent through coming to pole fit on a weekly basis. They are growing stronger physically and emotionally and improving their self esteem and body image and in turn, learning love themselves.

Any Future Plans:

We want our ladies to put on a Christmas show to let all of their friends and family see how brilliant they all are!

Instructor’s Names:

Sandrea, Eve, Lisa, Kirsty and Fran
